Watson Outdoor Living does land clearing in Richmond Hill, Georgia. We run a CAT 265 compact track loader with a forestry mulcher head. We also run a CAT 308 excavator for the heavy work. Richmond Hill sits low along the Ogeechee River, about 21 miles south of downtown Savannah. Lots here carry live oaks and pines over thick underbrush. The brush hides the ground, so you cannot see the grade or the wet spots. We clear the growth first, then you can see what you actually own. CJ Watson comes out, looks at the property, and gives you a free estimate.
Bryan County is the fastest growing county in Georgia. Richmond Hill grew by close to 80 percent between the 2010 and 2020 censuses. Hyundai's Metaplant opened in Ellabell, at the north end of Bryan County, in 2025. New homes and new roads followed it across the county. Much of the land left to build on is wooded, wet, or both. South of town, Fort McAllister State Park shows the raw ground here. Live oaks and salt marsh sit right against the tree line there. We clear building lots and pasture on ground like that. Forestry mulching handles lighter growth and leaves the chips on the ground.

Water. The ground sits about 20 feet above sea level, and the water table stays close behind it. Layers of sand, clay, and silt hold water instead of passing it down. A lot that looks dry in October can hold standing water in March.
So we clear with the drainage in mind. We keep the track loader off soft ground when it will rut. We pull stumps and root balls out with the excavator and haul them off. Grading and leveling comes after, once you can see where the water runs.
New building runs across the south end of Bryan County. Highway 144, also called Ford Avenue, carries most of it. More is coming near Belfast Keller Road, which is being widened from two lanes. Older tracts near Buckhead and the Ogeechee River have acreage that grew up over the years.
On a new homesite we open the building pad and the driveway line. On older land we push the tree line back and cut out fence rows. The excavator lifts stumps and root balls out whole, and we haul them off. Stump removal happens on the same visit as the clearing.
