Land Clearing in Pembroke, GA

Serving Pembroke · Bryan County

One Family Crew for Pembroke Land and Dirt

Watson Outdoor Living does land clearing in Pembroke and across north Bryan County. Pembroke is the county seat, and the 1938 courthouse still stands downtown. Highway 280 runs right through the middle of town, where Highway 119 and Highway 67 meet it. We come down Highway 67 from Statesboro with a CAT 265 track loader and a CAT 308 excavator. Owner CJ Watson runs the machines himself. Some jobs are a wooded acre behind the house. Others are a full homesite that has to be ready for a builder. Either way, CJ looks at the property first and the estimate is free.

North Bryan County is changing fast. The Hyundai Metaplant sits on a 2,900 acre site at Ellabell, about seven miles east of Pembroke. The first vehicles came off that line in October 2024. Land around town is worth more now, and wooded tracts are turning into homesites. We finished a mulching and clearing job in Ellabell, about ten minutes from Pembroke. Black Creek and Lanier sit in the same corridor, on the same kind of ground. Most of it is pine flatwoods, with sandy ridges and low branch bottoms. That mix decides how a lot gets cleared and when a machine can get on it.

What happens when we clear a lot in Pembroke?

Every job starts with what stays. We mark the trees you want to keep, then clear the rest. Small pine and underbrush go through the mulcher head on the CAT 265. Forestry mulching leaves a chip mat that holds the dirt in place. Bigger trees get pushed and dug with the CAT 308, or felled with a saw.

Our stump removal pulls the root ball out whole, because we dig stumps instead of grinding them. How far you take the clearing is your call. Some owners want the lot cut to bare dirt for a builder. Others want the big timber gone and the rest mulched, so rain still soaks in. We load the debris on the dump trailer and haul it off, then smooth the ground back down.

What kind of ground will we hit in north Bryan County?

Most of north Bryan County is pine flatwoods. The high spots are sandy and dry, and they clear quick. The low spots are branch bottoms that hold water for days after a hard rain. Gum and cypress grow in those wet strips, with heavy brush under them. The Canoochee River crosses Highway 119 near town, and its branches cut through many of these tracts.

We work the dry ground first and let the bottoms drain. Tracks on the CAT 265 spread its weight, so it stays up where a wheeled machine would sink. Along fence lines and property lines, brush clearing is often all a tract needs. When a bottom stays wet year round, we clear up to the edge and leave that strip alone. The trees there hold the bank and the dirt stays put.

What does land clearing cost in Pembroke?
Cost comes down to the acres and how thick the growth is. Hauling debris off costs more than mulching it in place. Big stumps and wet ground both add time on the machine. CJ looks at the property in person, then gives you a free estimate.
Do you grind stumps?
No. We dig stumps out with the CAT 308 excavator, root ball and all, then haul them off. Grinding leaves the roots and a pile of chips behind. Digging leaves a clean hole you can fill and build on. That is the better setup for a homesite or a new drive.
Do you clear land in Ellabell and Black Creek too?
Yes. Watson Outdoor Living covers Pembroke, Ellabell, Black Creek, Lanier and the rest of north Bryan County. We run down Highway 67 from Statesboro, so the whole corridor is a short haul. We already finished a mulching and clearing job in Ellabell. Call or text CJ at (912) 712-6034.
