Watson Outdoor Living does land clearing in Claxton, Georgia. We work out of Statesboro, about twenty miles north on US 301. Claxton sits where US 301 and US 280 cross, and it is the seat of Evans County. The Claxton Bakery on West Main Street has been baking fruit cake there since 1910. This is close-in home turf for us, and we run jobs here often. Work ranges from small lots downtown to rural tracts out past Hagan and Bellville. The ground here is coastal plain: thin sand over red and yellow clay, planted pine, and hardwood along the creeks.
CJ Watson runs the machines himself. We bring a CAT 265 compact track loader with a forestry mulcher head and a root rake grapple. A CAT 308 excavator handles the digging and the heavy pushing. That setup covers most of the clearing work here. We can mulch thick underbrush in place, or rake the roots out and haul the debris off. Which way we go depends on your soil, your timeline, and what you plan to build. Land near the Canoochee River holds water longer than the sandy ground out along US 280. Call or text (912) 712-6034 and we will come look at it. Estimates are free.

Most jobs start with a look at the tract and a plan for the debris. Thin pine, briars, and scrub go through the mulcher head in one or two passes. Larger hardwood gets felled with a saw, then pushed over and dug out with the excavator. Stump removal here means pulling the root ball out whole and hauling it off on the trailer.
Homesite clearing along US 301 and US 280 usually runs a half acre up to a few acres. Pasture edges are a different job. There we cut the brush back off the field edge and leave the grass alone. Forestry mulching leaves a mulch mat that holds the sandy soil until you plant or build.
Evans County sits low and flat on the coastal plain. Elevation runs from about 65 feet to 228 feet above sea level. Surface soil is thin sand over red and yellow clay. Sand depth changes from a few inches to several feet, so footing can change across one tract.
Near the Canoochee River the sand turns white and coarse, and the bottoms hold water after rain. We schedule that work for drier stretches when the calendar allows. East of town toward the Canoochee Sandhills, the ground drains fast and the machines travel better. If the lot needs slope or fill once it is open, grading and leveling follows.
