Bush removal takes out the shrubs that have outgrown their spot beside a house or across a yard. Foundation shrubs grow up over the windows, and old hedges spread wider into the lawn every summer. Watson Outdoor Living pulls them out with a CAT 308 excavator, root ball and all, and hauls them off. What is left is a raked, bare bed, ready for new grass or for the plants you pick next.
On one job in Statesboro, tall overgrown bushes stood beside a house, and the customer wanted the area cleaned up. The excavator pulled each bush out by its roots and set the root balls in the dump trailer. Then we raked the bed by hand and smoothed out the track marks in the bare dirt. Call or text (912) 712-6034 for a free estimate, and we will come out and look at your bushes first.

Every bush removal job starts with a visit to see the bed and the way in for the machine. We check how close each bush sits to the house and where the dump trailer can park at the road. Before any digging, Georgia 811 must be contacted, and it says its service is free of charge. Angi calls locating underground utilities a safety-critical step, so the 811 call comes before the bucket touches dirt.
On job day the excavator digs in around each bush and lifts it out with the whole root ball. Angi notes that deep-rooted species like holly require more labor and equipment than shallow-rooted ones like boxwood. The root balls go right into the dump trailer, and then the whole bed gets raked out by hand. If the bed needs topsoil spread before you plant, that is small yard work for our track loader.
A UGA Extension bulletin says some homeowners make the mistake of planting large-growing shrubs along the foundation. Those shrubs eventually overgrow the site and hide windows, and the bulletin says they draw attention away from the home. Shrub removal gives a bed like that a clean start, with every root ball pulled and hauled away. You can replant the bed with smaller shrubs sized for the space, or turn the whole thing into lawn.
A single foundation bed might hold holly, wax myrtle, ligustrum and old azaleas all growing side by side. We pull them one at a time, so a shrub you want to keep can stay right where it is. A hedge that has grown into tall trunks over the roof gets chainsaw felling backed by the excavator. A big tree stump left in the bed is dug out the same way, under our stump removal work.
Privet is the shrub to watch, and the Georgia Forestry Commission calls it widespread and common throughout all of Georgia. It is commonly used as an ornamental shrub and for hedgerows, and it grows up to 30 feet tall. Privet reproduces both by sprouts and by seeds, and the Commission says cut stumps should be treated to prevent resprouting. UGA Extension adds that an established privet shrub sends up shoots around it until it forms a dense thicket.
Pulling the whole root ball takes the stump and the main roots out of the bed in one lift. A few sprouts can still come up later from small root pieces left behind in the dirt. Birds spread privet seeds as well, so a new seedling can turn up even after every root is gone. UGA Extension says hand pulling is an option only when privet plants are very small, so pull sprouts early.
Angi's cost guide, updated in September 2026, puts the national average for shrub removal at $400. It says most homeowners spend between $150 and $650 per shrub, and labor often runs $45 to $100 per hour. HomeGuide lists shrub and bush removal at $25 to $150 per bush for plants up to 6 feet tall. Those are published guide figures, and our own price comes after we look at your bushes and the access.
Root depth and the number of bushes set most of the time a job takes on site. Haul off matters too, since Bulloch County's convenience centers are for household waste from county residents only. Contractors cannot dump at those sites, so our trailer hauls the root balls to a site that takes contractor loads. (912) 712-6034From the first look at the property to the last pass of the grapple, here is exactly how it goes.
We come see the property first: the growth, the ground under it, access for the machines, and what you want the land to become. Clearing prices live in details a phone call cannot see.
You get a real number and a real timeline, and what it covers is spelled out: clearing, stumps, grading, debris. It holds unless the scope changes, and you hear about any change before it costs anything.
The CAT 275 and 308 show up when we said they would. Brush gets mulched or piled, trees and stumps come out, dirt gets shaped, and debris leaves on the trailer.
We go over the finished ground with you before we leave. Smooth dirt you can mow, grade or build on, and a property that looks better than the day we pulled in.

Watson exceeded our expectations with his attention to detail and his ability to meet our timeline. I will recommend them to anyone!
Truly one of the best young men I’ve worked with. Him and his team exceeded my expectations. I’ve had them come for landscaping and debris removal, and each time I’m pleased. I recommended him to a few co-workers of mine and they consistently thought the pricing was reasonable.
Excellent, professional work!
